Sahel Region | Design of the Information and Communication System (ICS) Architecture

In a context of security fragility, Expertise France, the French public agency for international technical cooperation, entrusted us with a strategic field mission, funded by the European Union and the Crisis and Support Centre (CDCS) of the French Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs.

Our role: Design a communication architecture (radio and satellite) for the benefit of the G5 Sahel government forces (Mauritania, Mali, Burkina Faso, Niger, Chad), by providing them with robust, interoperable tools adapted to field realities.

Mission Objectives

  • Design a resilient communication architecture based on radio systems with satellite redundancy
  • Contribute to improving operational communications at both national and regional levels

Our Approach

  • Field audits in each of the G5 Sahel countries to assess the operational needs of beneficiaries
  • Co-construction of a regional ICS architecture that is coherent, resilient, and interoperable, taking into account the vast distances involved
  • Technical support: drafting technical specifications, selecting and validating equipment, assisting with calls for tenders, and providing general support

This four-year project aims to strengthen the operational capacities of states in protecting their territories and supporting regional cooperation in peacekeeping and crisis management. Our long-term, field-based support demonstrates our commitment to building sustainable solutions in close collaboration with both local and international stakeholders.
