In the Tahoua region of Niger, the security and humanitarian situation is a source of growing concern.
Moreover, the weak capacity of the State does not allow to provide the population with basic hygiene, education and health services.
Faced with this situation, the NGO Concern Worldwide decided to implement its Irish Aid Grant II programme, targeting 25 villages in the communes of Bambeye and Tebaram.
The objectives are: to reduce inequalities and improve access to basic services for all, especially the most vulnerable. Ultimately, it is a question of contributing to strengthening the resilience of populations.
For accountability and capitalization purposes, Concern Worldwide has engaged TDS to conduct the final evaluation of this project.
The evaluation, which lasted 10 months, was organized in three phases: structuring, data collection and assessment. For data collection, TDS conducted a household survey as well as “Key Informant Interviews” (KII) and “Focus Group Discussions” (FGD) in the project target areas.
As a result of this work, TDS provided an independent, neutral and comprehensive assessment to Concern, including operational recommendations for their future actions in the field of resilience.
By taking an inclusive and gender-sensitive approach; and by crossing multiple data collection processes, TDS has highlighted in the most comprehensive way the successes and limitations of the project led by Concern.
