Sénégal & Niger | Projet Afri'Kibaaru | Renforcement des capacités des médias pour un débat public inclusif

Led by CFI, the French media development aid agency, the Afrikibaaru project aims to strengthen the capacities of local journalists and media in fostering a pluralistic public debate around the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and gender issues. The project takes place in a context where the media plays a crucial role in promoting transparent, inclusive, and participatory governance.

TDS Group was commissioned to support this process through a series of interactive trainings and individualised coaching sessions with selected partner media outlets in both countries.

Mission Objectives:

  • Conduct an assessment of the needs and capacities of the partner media outlets
  • Strengthen the basic and advanced journalistic skills of selected journalists
  • Provide training on facilitating public debate on the SDGs and gender issues
  • Support media outlets through tailored, proximity-based coaching adapted to their local realities

Methodological Approach:

A participatory approach combining in-person and remote training sessions, interactive workshops, practical exercises adapted to local contexts, and tailored support to consolidate learning outcomes over time.

Impact:

A sustainable skills improvement within a network of local media engaged in producing high-quality content on development issues, and enhanced ability to facilitate inclusive, gender-sensitive public debate rooted in local realities.
